Am I a Candidate for Lip Injections?

During your consultation, your lips will be examined to see if you are a candidate for lip injections. Ideal candidates are healthy individuals who are over the age of 21 and desire fuller, more defined lips, or the reduction of vertical lines around the mouth. Lip injections may not be appropriate for patients who smoke or have a bleeding disorder, as these may increase your risk of complications.

How Do Lip Injections Work?

Lip injections can be performed in under an hour. The lip filler chosen for your treatment will be injected into various regions of the lip using a tiny needle to enhance fullness and highlight shape.

Restylane® Silk

Restylane® Silk is an FDA-approved dermal filler that contains a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid—a naturally-occurring sugar that attracts moisture to the tissues and maintains hydration. Restylane® Silk contains smaller, smoother particles than other Restylane® products and is designed specifically for the lips and the wrinkles that develop around them. The body will safely absorb this filler over the following months.

What Can I Expect from My Recovery?

Restylane® contains trace amounts of lidocaine to significantly reduce post-injection pain and provide a smooth and tolerable recovery. Some patients experience mild bruising, swelling, and lip discomfort, but these can be controlled with cold compresses and over-the-counter painkillers. Most individuals return to their daily activities following the injection, and strenuous exercise can be resumed the following day.
