When patients experience issues with their thighs and upper leg area, a thigh lift surgery (thighplasty) is typically an ideal option for body sculpting. Let’s go over the different ways this surgery can be performed.

About Thigh Lift Surgery

Thigh lift surgery is a body contouring procedure that is designed to address issues with sagging skin, drooping skin, and stretchmarks in the thigh area. It’s a great skin tightening option for people who have lost a lot of weight, have given birth to a child, or have experienced changes in body contour as a result of the natural aging process.

The thigh lift can be customized to the needs of the patient to achieve optimal results.

About the Medial Thigh Lift

The medial thigh lift is a thigh lift that addresses issues with the inner thighs. During a medial thigh lift, an incision is made along the groin that extends typically along the crease of the buttocks. Through this incision, excess skin, fat, and tissue can be removed and the remaining skin can be pulled tighter. This eliminates sagging and enhances the overall appearance of the thighs in the process.

About the Lateral Thigh Lift

The lateral thigh lift is a surgery that is designed to improve the appearance of the outer thighs. During the lateral thigh lift, an incision is made starting at the top of the leg at the hip, typically in the area where the bottom of an undergarment would be. This incision then extends down toward the groin. Though this incision the necessary contouring of the outer leg can be achieved.

About the Mini Thigh Lift

A mini thigh lift refers to a less extensive form of the traditional thigh lifts mentioned above. It is designed to address minor sagging, drooping, and stretchmarks in the thighs. While the procedure can vary from patient to patient, the mini thigh lift typically involves an incision in the groin area to achieve all of the necessary contouring.

A Word on Post-Surgical Scarring

Scarring is a reality with every surgery, but all efforts are made to minimize scarring whenever possible. The scars will fade with time, though the extent of the fading can vary from patient to patient. Thankfully the scars are well-hidden by many undergarments, bathing suits, and bottoms.

What About Thigh Liposuction?

Thigh liposuction is a different approach to body contouring. Rather than reducing loose skin and stretchmarks, it’s most ideal for removing unwanted fat from the thigh area. Some liposuction may be involved in a thigh lift depending on the needs of the patient.
